⚠ turbocharger NOT included ✓ runs nice
This is a used part in good condition. This 2.7L V6 engine (335 HP, 380 lb.-ft.) was tested and runs well. It is a turbocharged engine (VIN P, 8th digit) for vehicles with an automatic transmission. This assembly includes the engine up to the flywheel but does not include the turbocharger. You may need to swap induction, exhaust, electrical, and fuel system components from your original engine to ensure it works with your vehicle.

This engine fits only models equipped with the 2.7L turbocharged engine (8th VIN digit 'P'). Please verify your vehicle's engine size and VIN before ordering.

Know This Engine Before You Buy

The research behind our purchase interview — recalls, bulletins and real install economics for this engine family:

A quick look at your own vehicle makes sure the right engine shows up:

  • Confirm the 8th digit of the VIN is 'P'.
  • Verify the engine is mounted transversely (sideways) in the engine bay.
  • Confirm if the vehicle is Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or All-Wheel Drive (AWD).
🔎 Where to look: Look for a white barcoded sticker on the original engine's driver-side valve cover or front timing cover to verify the engine code starts with KG502.

What the install really takes — plan and budget with confidence:

15 to 24 hoursshop labor$1,800 to $4,800typical shop bill, on top of the partExpertDIY difficulty

Special tools this job needs:

  • Crankshaft Pulley Holding Tool (OTC 4754)
  • Camshaft Timing Alignment Tool Kit (CTA 7641)
  • A/C Evacuation & Recharge Station
  • Precision Torque Wrench (In-Lbs)
  • Ford-specific seal installer (303-1250)
🔌 Wiring harness: The main engine harness is typically not included. You must reuse your vehicle's original engine wiring harness to ensure proper connector alignment and module pinouts.

Budget for these consumables at install:

  • Engine Oil: 6.0 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil (Ford WSS-M2C946-B1 or WSS-M2C961-A1)
  • Oil Filter: Motorcraft FL-2062-A or FL-910S
  • Coolant: Motorcraft Yellow (WSS-M97B57-A2) or Orange (WSS-M97B44-D2) Prediluted Antifreeze
  • Spark Plugs: Set of 6 OE-spec spark plugs (Motorcraft SP-578 or SP-594), pre-gapped to 0.030"
  • Turbocharger installation kit (gaskets, O-rings, hardware)
  • Upper and lower intake manifold gaskets
  • Exhaust manifold gaskets
  • Oil pump tube seal (Part FT4Z-6626-A) if oil pan is removed
  • Front and rear crankshaft main seals
  • Crankshaft Pulley Bolt (Part FT4Z-6A340-A) - Torque-to-Yield (TTY) single-use

What your vehicle’s computers will need after the swap:

⚠️ Requiredprogramming / calibration⚠️ Yesdealer tool needed⚠️ YesECU/PCM re-marriage

What’s involved: Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction (CKP Relearn) & PATS Security Re-initialization

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) must perform a Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Relearn to prevent DTC P0315 and false misfires. Additionally, the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) must be re-initialized to recognize the new engine components. A dealer-level scan tool (Ford IDS/FDRS) or advanced diagnostic tool (Forscan) is required.

Pro tips for a smooth first start-up — hand them to whoever does the install:

  • The 4-Stage Crankshaft Bolt Torque sequence must be strictly followed using a new TTY bolt and holding tool to prevent timing gear slippage.
  • Plastic oil pan bolts must be torqued to exactly 89 INCH-pounds in a cross-pattern sequence. Do not use foot-pound wrenches or impact guns.
  • Turbocharger oil feed line mesh filters must be thoroughly cleaned or replaced to prevent debris from starving and destroying transferred turbos.
  • AWD models require careful alignment and sealing when reconnecting the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) and intermediate shaft bracket.
  • Let the crankcase drain overnight before applying RTV sealant to ensure the oil pan mating surface is completely dry.

Easy to get right once you know them:

  • Reusing the single-use torque-to-yield (TTY) crankshaft pulley bolt, leading to pulley slippage and catastrophic valve damage.
  • Torquing plastic oil pan bolts to 89 foot-pounds instead of 89 inch-pounds, cracking the pan and stripping block threads.
  • Failing to perform the mandatory Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction, resulting in immediate misfire codes and flashing CEL.
  • Not transferring AWD-specific oil pans and brackets before attempting to install the engine into an AWD vehicle.
  • Reusing old turbo gaskets, seals, and fasteners, leading to boost, oil, or coolant leaks.
  • Skipping the PATS immobilizer security relearn, causing a no-start condition.

Not issues with the units on this page — the manufacturer documented these for every engine of this family, wherever you buy one. Handy for your installer:

🔎 Recommended at install: Replace original plastic oil pan with updated design featuring a press-in-place rubber gasket (Part KT4Z-6675-D).

🔎 Recommended at install: Replace the affected Variable Cam Timing (VCT) phaser units.

Researched from factory recalls, TSBs and OEM service data (reference unit 300-10284-4694368). Unit-specific details — mileage, condition, warranty, freight — are covered in the checkout interview.

Policies, in plain English.

Shipping & Handling

  • Ships by LTL freight on a pallet — a real freight truck, not a parcel van
  • Your checkout freight quote covers delivery to your door (liftgate service included for residential addresses)
  • The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery window — someone must be present to receive it
  • Typically palletized and picked up within 2–3 business days; transit time depends on distance

120-Day Warranty

This part includes a 120-day warranty.

  • If the part fails within the warranty window, we'll replace it or refund per the coverage terms
  • Coverage is parts-only — installation labor is not included
  • Warranty covers defects — not installation errors, misuse, or damage after installation

Your pre-purchase interview reviews these exact terms with you before anything is charged.

Returns (30 Days)

We accept returns of uninstalled parts within 30 days of delivery for this part.

  • Defective parts: We will replace the part or issue a refund at our discretion
  • Programming: "Needs to be programmed to my vehicle" is not a valid return reason. Many modules require dealer programming — we're happy to help connect you with resources if your dealer says it's not programmable
  • Return shipping: This part ships by freight (LTL) — the part price is refundable per the terms above, but shipping costs are non-refundable and return freight follows the seller's return terms. Your pre-purchase interview walks through the exact numbers before you buy
  • Parts must be returned in original packaging and unmodified condition
  • Poorly packaged returns that arrive damaged will not be credited

Damaged in Shipping?

Freight damage is rare — and you're fully protected when you do two things at delivery:

  • Inspect before you sign — you're allowed time to look the pallet over while the driver waits
  • Write any damage on the delivery receipt before signing — that one line is what makes a freight claim succeed
  • Severe damage? Refuse the delivery — it goes back at no cost to you and we make it right
  • Photograph the pallet before unwrapping; report concealed damage within 24 hours of delivery

We handle the carrier claim — you just help document it. Your pre-purchase interview walks through this checklist too.

Order Cancellation

Cancel before shipment for a full refund. Once the pallet has been built, a preparation charge may apply — and once the freight carrier picks it up, shipping costs are non-refundable and standard return terms apply. Your pre-purchase interview shows the exact numbers before you pay.
