Pro tips for a smooth first start-up — hand them to whoever does the install:

• AWD vs. FWD Oil Pan and PTU: If swapping between AWD and FWD, you must swap the oil pan, oil pickup tube, and intermediate shaft carrier bracket from your old engine.
• Crankshaft Pulley Bolt (DO NOT LOOSEN): The crankshaft pulley is not keyed. Loosening the center bolt without specialized timing tools will instantly throw the engine out of timing and cause catastrophic valve-to-piston contact.
• Fragile Vacuum Lines and Solenoids: The turbocharger boost control solenoid and plastic vacuum lines on the back of the engine are extremely brittle and easily cracked.
• Oil Pan Sealing: Let the crankcase drain overnight before applying RTV sealant to prevent residual oil from contaminating the new seal.
• High-Pressure Fuel Lines: Must be handled carefully and torqued to exact specifications to avoid leaks.
