- CRITICAL WARNING: Keyless Crankshaft Pulley. The harmonic balancer does not use a keyway or pin. Do not loosen or remove the crankshaft pulley bolt without specialized Ford timing pegs and camshaft alignment plates locked in place, or engine timing will be lost instantly, causing valve damage.
- Fragile plastic coolant outlet housing on the driver's side of the cylinder head is prone to cracking and is extremely difficult to access once installed; replace it while the engine is out.
- Flexplate bolts are torque-to-yield and must be replaced; reusing old stretched bolts can cause them to back out.
- Ensure all engine-to-chassis ground straps are clean and securely reattached to prevent electrical issues.
- Handle Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoids carefully to avoid debris contamination.
