• High-Pressure Fuel Pump Lobe Alignment: Verify that the camshaft's fuel pump lobe is at its lowest point (base circle) using GM tool EN-50790 before tightening the mounting bolts to avoid bending the plunger.
• Mandatory Oil Cooler Replacement: If the original engine failed due to a spun bearing or internal metal damage, you must replace the engine oil cooler and its lines to prevent metal shavings from contaminating the new engine.
• Crankshaft Position Sensor Relearn: Do not skip the CKP relearn, otherwise the computer cannot accurately track engine misfires.
• Subframe Drop Requirement: The factory procedure requires dropping the engine, transmission, and front subframe out from the bottom of the vehicle; do not attempt to pull from the top.
• Auto Stop/Start Wear: Ensure starter and battery connections are perfectly clean and torqued during install due to heavy electrical and mechanical strain from the aggressive Auto Stop/Start system.
