Odometer 115,000 miles 🛡 120-day warranty included
✓ includes injectors two-piece oil pan
This is a used part. It is for vehicles with a 3.6L engine and an automatic transmission. It features a two-piece oil pan and includes injectors. Built for the US market; verify your vehicle's 8th VIN digit is G.

This is a 3.6L V6 gasoline engine. It fits the 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2019-2024 Ram 1500 Classic models. For 2019 and newer models, this will ONLY fit the 'Classic' body style (which has 5-lug wheels), not the redesigned Ram 1500 (which has 6-lug wheels). Please verify the 8th digit of your vehicle's VIN is 'G' to ensure proper fitment.

Know This Engine Before You Buy

The research behind our purchase interview — recalls, bulletins and real install economics for this engine family:

A quick look at your own vehicle makes sure the right engine shows up:

  • Check Your VIN's 8th Digit: Confirm it is 'G'.
  • Verify Your Wheel Lug Pattern: Must have a 5-lug wheel pattern (DS Classic body style).
  • Confirm the Absence of eTorque: Ensure the engine has a standard 12V alternator, not a large liquid-cooled 48V Motor Generator Unit (MGU).
🔎 Where to look: 8th digit of the VIN must be 'G'

What the install really takes — plan and budget with confidence:

14 to 20 hoursshop labor1800 to 3600typical shop bill, on top of the partExpertDIY difficulty

Special tools this job needs:

  • Camshaft Phaser Lock / Timing Chain Holder Tool (Mopar/Miller #10200A, #10202, or #10369A)
  • Engine Lifting Brackets (Miller 10242)
  • Fuel line disconnect tool
  • Engine crane/hoist and load leveler
  • Torque wrench / Torque-Angle Wrench
  • OBD2 Scan tool with Chrysler/FCA diagnostic capabilities
🔌 Wiring harness: The core long block is similar, but the front-end accessory drive and wiring are different for eTorque models.

Budget for these consumables at install:

  • Engine Oil (5.9 quarts of API-certified full synthetic SAE 5W-20 meeting Chrysler MS-6395 specifications)
  • Oil Filter (High-quality canister-style)
  • Coolant (Mopar OAT 50/50 Pre-Diluted Coolant conforming to Chrysler specification MS.90032, purple color)
  • Spark Plugs (Six pre-gapped iridium or platinum)
  • Gaskets (Upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets)
  • Seals (Front and rear main seals recommended)
  • Thermostat and housing
  • Water Pump (highly advisable to replace while access is easy)

What your vehicle’s computers will need after the swap:

⚠️ Requiredprogramming / calibration⚠️ Yesdealer tool needed⚠️ YesECU/PCM re-marriage

What’s involved: Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Relearn & Security Relearn

sources differ: Arm 1 states only a Cam/Crank variation relearn is needed if reusing the original ECU (no security programming required to start). Arm 2 states a security relearn is typically required to synchronize the PCM with the vehicle's security system (SKIM module) to prevent a no-start condition. A high-end bi-directional scan tool or dealer tool is required.

Pro tips for a smooth first start-up — hand them to whoever does the install:

  • Not a Free-Spin Engine (Interference Design): Never rotate the crankshaft or camshafts while timing chains are altered, loose, or removed to prevent valve-to-piston contact.
  • Magnetic Synchronizing Wheels: Camshaft phaser magnetic timing wheels must never contact magnets, which destroys their ability to relay position and causes permanent timing codes (P0016-P0019).
  • Oil Filter Adapter / Cooler Torque: Torque mounting bolts to exactly 12 Nm (106 in-lbs). Over-tightening will crack the plastic housing instantly.
  • Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) Gaskets: Cylinder head gaskets require scratch-free surfaces; never use metal scrapers or abrasive pads on aluminum block or head surfaces.
  • Torque-to-Yield (TTY) Bolts: Cylinder head bolts are TTY and MUST be replaced. Reusing them leads to head gasket failure.

Easy to get right once you know them:

  • Confusing Classic (DS) vs. New Body Style (DT) Engines: Ordering this engine for a fifth-generation 2019-2024 Ram 1500 (DT body style, 6-lug wheels) which uses the eTorque mild-hybrid system.
  • Mixing Incompatible Coolants: Adding HOAT (orange) or standard green coolant to the purple OAT system, which turns the coolant into a thick gel and clogs the system.
  • Reusing Stretched Intake Gaskets or TTY Head Bolts.
  • Failing to Prime the Oil System: Starting the engine without priming can cause dry starts, scoring camshaft journals and damaging rocker arm needle bearings.
  • Ignoring the 'Pentastar Tick' and dismissing it as normal injector noise.
  • Improper Lifting: Attempting to lift the engine with chains wrapped around the intake manifold or exhaust instead of designated lifting brackets.

Not issues with the units on this page — the manufacturer documented these for every engine of this family, wherever you buy one. Handy for your installer:

severeThe 'Pentastar Tick' (Rocker Arm & Camshaft Failure)2014-2020 (and reported on later models)

🔎 Recommended at install: Replace rocker arms, lifters, and camshafts if damaged. Needle bearings inside rocker arms wear prematurely.

moderateOil Filter Adapter / Cooler Housing LeaksAll

🔎 Recommended at install: Replace plastic housing or seals. Avoid over-tightening the oil filter cap. Aftermarket aluminum housings are available.

moderateSticking Intake Hydraulic Lash Adjusters (HLAs)2022-2023

🔎 Recommended at install: Inspect and replace the intake HLAs to resolve abnormal ticking noise and misfire DTCs.

minorWater Pump Coolant Leak2016-2024

🔎 Recommended at install: Perform specific inspection steps prior to replacing the water pump.

minorMDS Lifters Disconnecting Pin Alignment2023

🔎 Recommended at install: Do not replace MDS lifters just because a disconnecting pin is not lined up, as this is normal.

minorFuel Tank Fill Issues2018-2020

🔎 Recommended at install: Manufacturing issue with the fuel tank itself causing premature nozzle shut-off.

minorCheck Engine Light / Rough Run2021

🔎 Recommended at install: Splice a pigtail to the engine ground harness.

Researched from factory recalls, TSBs and OEM service data (reference unit 300-10366G-5260586). Unit-specific details — mileage, condition, warranty, freight — are covered in the checkout interview.

Policies, in plain English.

Shipping & Handling

  • Ships by LTL freight on a pallet — a real freight truck, not a parcel van
  • Your checkout freight quote covers delivery to your door (liftgate service included for residential addresses)
  • The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery window — someone must be present to receive it
  • Typically palletized and picked up within 2–3 business days; transit time depends on distance

120-Day Warranty

This part includes a 120-day warranty.

  • If the part fails within the warranty window, we'll replace it or refund per the coverage terms
  • Coverage is parts-only — installation labor is not included
  • Warranty covers defects — not installation errors, misuse, or damage after installation

Your pre-purchase interview reviews these exact terms with you before anything is charged.

Returns (30 Days)

We accept returns of uninstalled parts within 30 days of delivery for this part.

  • Defective parts: We will replace the part or issue a refund at our discretion
  • Programming: "Needs to be programmed to my vehicle" is not a valid return reason. Many modules require dealer programming — we're happy to help connect you with resources if your dealer says it's not programmable
  • Return shipping: This part ships by freight (LTL) — the part price is refundable per the terms above, but shipping costs are non-refundable and return freight follows the seller's return terms. Your pre-purchase interview walks through the exact numbers before you buy
  • Parts must be returned in original packaging and unmodified condition
  • Poorly packaged returns that arrive damaged will not be credited

Damaged in Shipping?

Freight damage is rare — and you're fully protected when you do two things at delivery:

  • Inspect before you sign — you're allowed time to look the pallet over while the driver waits
  • Write any damage on the delivery receipt before signing — that one line is what makes a freight claim succeed
  • Severe damage? Refuse the delivery — it goes back at no cost to you and we make it right
  • Photograph the pallet before unwrapping; report concealed damage within 24 hours of delivery

We handle the carrier claim — you just help document it. Your pre-purchase interview walks through this checklist too.

Order Cancellation

Cancel before shipment for a full refund. Once the pallet has been built, a preparation charge may apply — and once the freight carrier picks it up, shipping costs are non-refundable and standard return terms apply. Your pre-purchase interview shows the exact numbers before you pay.
