This is a used part. This 2.0L 4-cylinder engine (LSY) features spark ignited direct injection (SIDI) and double overhead camshafts (DOHC). It is for vehicles with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD). This engine was tested and runs well. It does not include the turbocharger, electrical system, or induction system. You may need to switch your original induction, exhaust, electrical, and fuel system components. Built for the US market; verify your vehicle's 5th VIN digit is K (option code LSY).

This is a 2.0L turbocharged engine (engine code LSY). To ensure proper fitment, please verify your vehicle has All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and that the 8th digit of your VIN is 'K'. This engine is sold as a long block and does not include the turbocharger assembly, which must be swapped from your original engine or purchased separately.

Know This Engine Before You Buy

The research behind our purchase interview — recalls, bulletins and real install economics for this engine family:

A quick look at your own vehicle makes sure the right engine shows up:

  • Confirm the 8th digit of the VIN is 'K' to verify the vehicle has the 2.0L LSY engine.
  • Confirm the vehicle is All-Wheel Drive (AWD) to ensure a direct fit without needing an upper oil pan swap.
🔎 Where to look: The engine broadcast code is located near the top of the engine front cover, just below the engine oil fill cap.

What the install really takes — plan and budget with confidence:

13 to 25 hoursshop labor$1,500 to $5,000typical shop bill, on top of the partExpertDIY difficulty

Special tools this job needs:

  • EN-52462-A Camshaft Alignment/Locking Tool
  • EN-52476 Flywheel Locking Tool
  • EN-52461 Cam Phaser Torque Reaction Tool
  • EN-52441 / EN-52442 Balance Shaft Timing and Holding Tools
  • Engine Hoist/Lift
  • GM-specific Scan Tool (MDI 2 with GDS2 software)
  • Torque-Angle Gauge
  • Harmonic Balancer Puller/Installer Kit
  • Timing Cover & Rear Main Seal Alignment Tools
  • Fuel Line Disconnect Tools
🔌 Wiring harness: Plan to transfer your vehicle's original engine wiring harness to the replacement engine to ensure all connectors, pinouts, and routing match your vehicle's specific options and model year perfectly.

Budget for these consumables at install:

  • 5.3 quarts (5.0 liters) of SAE 0W-20 Full Synthetic oil meeting GM dexos1 Gen 3 (or Gen 2) specification
  • ACDelco PF66 oil filter (or high-quality equivalent)
  • GM-approved orange Dex-Cool coolant (50/50 pre-diluted)
  • New OEM iridium spark plugs
  • Exhaust manifold gasket
  • Intake manifold gasket
  • Turbocharger mounting gaskets, oil feed/drain line gaskets, and coolant line O-rings
  • Upper and lower oil pan gaskets/sealant (if swapping the upper oil pan extension)
  • New torque-to-yield (TTY) crankshaft balancer bolt
  • New TTY flywheel/flexplate bolts
  • New turbocharger mounting hardware
  • New accessory drive/serpentine belt

What your vehicle’s computers will need after the swap:

⚠️ Requiredprogramming / calibration⚠️ Yesdealer tool needed✅ NoECU/PCM re-marriage

What’s involved: Crankshaft Position (CKP) System Variation Relearn, Immobilizer/Security Re-marriage (VTD Relearn if ECM is swapped), ECM Programming

While the original ECU can be reused without a full re-marriage, a Crankshaft Position (CKP) System Variation Relearn is mandatory using a GM-specific scan tool (GDS2/MDI) to prevent rough running and false misfire codes. If the ECM is swapped, an Immobilizer/Security Re-marriage (VTD Relearn) and ECM programming are also required.

Pro tips for a smooth first start-up — hand them to whoever does the install:

  • The 'F Extension' (Upper Oil Pan) AWD vs. RWD Trap: If installing in a RWD vehicle, you must swap the upper oil pan extension which houses the dual balance shafts. You must time the balance shafts to the crankshaft using special tools EN-52441 and EN-52442 to avoid destructive engine vibrations.
  • The Cam Carrier Design: The LSY engine uses a structural cam carrier instead of a traditional valve cover. Loosening the top cover bolts will cause the camshafts to lift out, disrupting engine timing. Do not touch without camshaft locking tools.
  • Turbocharger Wastegate Binding (DTC P2B81): Inspect the transferred turbocharger's wastegate linkage for smooth operation before installation to avoid transferring a binding wastegate issue.
  • Fragile Turbo Oil Feed Line: Always replace the turbocharger oil feed line to prevent carbon clog oil starvation which can destroy the turbocharger within seconds.
  • Front/Rear Cover Alignment: The front timing cover and rear main seal cover lack alignment dowels and must be centered using special alignment tools to prevent immediate oil leaks.

Easy to get right once you know them:

  • Assuming AWD and RWD engines are plug-and-play without realizing the upper oil pan extension must be swapped for RWD applications.
  • Failing to prelube the engine before the first start, which can cause immediate, irreversible bearing damage.
  • Reusing single-use torque-to-yield (TTY) bolts (such as crankshaft balancer or flywheel bolts), leading to loose components.
  • Blaming the engine for misfires (DTC P0300 / P0315) before performing the mandatory Crankshaft Position System Variation Relearn.
  • Ignoring the 'LESS TURBO' note and expecting a turbocharger to be included with the assembly.

Researched from factory recalls, TSBs and OEM service data (reference unit 300-10473-5037226). Unit-specific details — mileage, condition, warranty, freight — are covered in the checkout interview.

Policies, in plain English.

Shipping & Handling

  • Ships by LTL freight on a pallet — a real freight truck, not a parcel van
  • Your checkout freight quote covers delivery to your door (liftgate service included for residential addresses)
  • The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery window — someone must be present to receive it
  • Typically palletized and picked up within 2–3 business days; transit time depends on distance

120-Day Warranty

This part includes a 120-day warranty.

  • If the part fails within the warranty window, we'll replace it or refund per the coverage terms
  • Coverage is parts-only — installation labor is not included
  • Warranty covers defects — not installation errors, misuse, or damage after installation

Your pre-purchase interview reviews these exact terms with you before anything is charged.

Returns (30 Days)

We accept returns of uninstalled parts within 30 days of delivery for this part.

  • Defective parts: We will replace the part or issue a refund at our discretion
  • Programming: "Needs to be programmed to my vehicle" is not a valid return reason. Many modules require dealer programming — we're happy to help connect you with resources if your dealer says it's not programmable
  • Return shipping: This part ships by freight (LTL) — the part price is refundable per the terms above, but shipping costs are non-refundable and return freight follows the seller's return terms. Your pre-purchase interview walks through the exact numbers before you buy
  • Parts must be returned in original packaging and unmodified condition
  • Poorly packaged returns that arrive damaged will not be credited

Damaged in Shipping?

Freight damage is rare — and you're fully protected when you do two things at delivery:

  • Inspect before you sign — you're allowed time to look the pallet over while the driver waits
  • Write any damage on the delivery receipt before signing — that one line is what makes a freight claim succeed
  • Severe damage? Refuse the delivery — it goes back at no cost to you and we make it right
  • Photograph the pallet before unwrapping; report concealed damage within 24 hours of delivery

We handle the carrier claim — you just help document it. Your pre-purchase interview walks through this checklist too.

Order Cancellation

Cancel before shipment for a full refund. Once the pallet has been built, a preparation charge may apply — and once the freight carrier picks it up, shipping costs are non-refundable and standard return terms apply. Your pre-purchase interview shows the exact numbers before you pay.
