Every 6F35 transmission has a unique 13-digit solenoid body strategy and a 7-digit/12-digit solenoid body ID stamped on the case. This strategy must be programmed into the vehicle's PCM/TCM using a Ford-compatible scan tool (such as FORScan or Ford IDS) before driving. After programming, clear the transmission adaptive tables and perform the adaptive drive cycle.
Pro tips for a smooth first start-up — hand them to whoever does the install:
- Torque Converter Seating: Must be fully seated into the front pump (requires three distinct clicks/drops, recessed by about 9/16" or 14mm). Forcing the bellhousing bolts tight when unseated will crack the front pump gear, destroying the transmission instantly.
- PTU Alignment and Seal: Align splines perfectly when reinstalling the PTU to avoid nicking the new compression seal.
- Fluid Level Check Procedure: No traditional dipstick. Check fluid level via the leveling plug/standpipe on the side of the case with the engine running, transmission in Park, vehicle level, and fluid temperature between 185°F and 200°F (85°C to 93°C).

- Improper Torque Converter Seating: Forcing the transmission to bolt to the engine when the torque converter is not fully seated, breaking the front pump.
