• Dual Cooling Systems: The vehicle has two distinct cooling systems (engine and low-temperature intercooler). You must use a vacuum-fill cooling system tool to refill and bleed both systems to prevent air pockets and immediate overheating.
• Water Pump & Thermostat Bolts: Check and torque these bolts before installing the engine, as they frequently lose torque and cause leaks.
• Timing Chain Tensioner Warning: If using the timing chain wedge tool, do not remove it until the phasers are fully reinstalled. If the tensioner piston extends, the timing cover must be removed to reset it.
• Turbocharger Transfer: Transferring the turbo requires careful handling of oil and coolant lines, gaskets, and fasteners.
• Unrefined Powertrain Mounting: Pay close attention to the condition of the engine and transmission mounts during the swap to prevent excessive shaking at idle.

• Assuming the Turbo is Included: This engine is sold 'LESS TURBO'. Buyers must transfer their original turbocharger, wastegate actuator, and plumbing.
• Reusing the Plastic Coolant T-Fitting: Reusing the brittle plastic fitting often leads to immediate failure and engine destruction. It should be replaced with an aluminum upgrade.
• Using the Wrong Oil Viscosity/Spec: Using incorrect oil can damage the complex MultiAir valvetrain and turbo bearings. Use strictly specified synthetic oil.
• Ignoring the Need for Programming: Attempting to run the engine without dealer-level programming/alignment will result in a no-start condition or severe running problems.
• Not Transferring FWD/AWD Oil Pan/Brackets: Oil pans and accessory brackets may need to be transferred if swapping between different drivetrain configurations.
