Know This Transmission Before You Buy

The research behind our purchase interview — recalls, bulletins and real install economics for this transmission family:

A quick look at your own vehicle makes sure the right transmission shows up:

  • Confirm vehicle has the Idle Stop & Go (ISG) system (look for 'Eco' badge on tailgate and 'ISG Off' button on lower left dash panel).
  • Verify the 8th digit of the VIN is '6' (indicating the 2.0L Nu engine).
  • Verify the presence of the external electric oil pump (part number 46110-26300) bolted to the original transmission case.
🔎 Where to look: Locate the identification tag on top of the original transmission case near the bellhousing to confirm it matches part number 45000-3BDX0 or 45000-3BDX0R.

What the install really takes — plan and budget with confidence:

5.5-8.0shop labor700-1600typical shop bill, on top of the partAdvanced to ExpertDIY difficulty

Special tools this job needs:

  • Engine support bar
  • Transmission jack
  • Torque wrench
  • OBD2 scan tool with bi-directional capabilities (Kia GDS/KDS)
🔌 Wiring harness: Wiring harness differs significantly between ISG and non-ISG models. This unit is only compatible with the ISG harness.

Budget for these consumables at install:

  • Hyundai/Kia Genuine ATF SP-IV (7.3 to 7.8 quarts total capacity)
  • Torque converter seal (front pump seal, part number 46131-3B600 or 46131-26AS0)
  • Axle seals
  • RTV silicone or specialized front cover gasket (part number 45282-26100)
  • Professional cooler-line flush solvent

What your vehicle’s computers will need after the swap:

⚠️ Requiredprogramming / calibration⚠️ Yesdealer tool needed✅ NoECU/PCM re-marriage

What’s involved: TCM Adaptive Relearn (Resetting adaptive shift values)

A TCM adaptive value reset and a two-part relearn procedure (stationary and driving) are mandatory after installation using a professional bi-directional scan tool (such as Kia GDS/KDS, Autel, or Launch). No VIN-specific programming or immobilizer re-marriage is required.

Pro tips for a smooth first start-up — hand them to whoever does the install:

  • Torque Converter Seating Depth: Ensure the torque converter is fully seated (approx. 1 cm / 0.4 inches recessed from the bellhousing flange) and spins easily by hand before bolting to the engine to avoid cracking the front pump.
  • Alignment Dowels: Verify alignment dowels are present in the engine block. Missing dowels cause misalignment, destroying the front pump seal within 100 miles.
  • Fluid-Fill and Level-Check Procedure: No dipstick. Must check fluid level at 122°F to 140°F (50°C to 60°C) with engine running and vehicle level, using the level plug on the front plastic cover.
  • Idle Stop & Go (ISG) Calibration: Allow the vehicle to remain undisturbed for at least 4 hours post-install for the battery sensor and ISG system to perform self-recalibration.
  • Cooler Line Flush: Mandatory to flush the transmission cooler and lines to prevent debris from the failed unit from contaminating the replacement transmission.

Easy to get right once you know them:

  • Ordering for a non-ISG vehicle: This transmission is specifically for ISG-equipped models and includes an external electric oil pump. It will not function in a non-ISG vehicle.
  • Skipping the TCM Adaptive Relearn: Failing to reset adaptive values causes harsh shifting, slipping, and premature clutch burnout.
  • Improperly Seating the Torque Converter: Bolting the transmission to the engine with an unseated converter breaks the front pump and voids the warranty.
  • Attempting to Replace the Filter: The filter is internal and cannot be replaced without splitting the transmission case halves.
  • Using Incorrect Fluid: Using generic multi-vehicle ATF instead of the required SP-IV fluid causes shifting issues and internal damage.

Not issues with the units on this page — the manufacturer documented these for every transmission of this family, wherever you buy one. Handy for your installer:

🔎 Recommended at install: Replace the TFT sensor located on the internal wiring harness inside the front cover (TSB TRA 051 / NHTSA SB-10090166-5448).

🔎 Recommended at install: Diagnose and replace individual solenoids on the valve body as outlined in TSB TRA 051.

🔎 Recommended at install: Replace front pump seal (torque converter seal) during installation.

moderateValve Body Wear (Solenoid and Pressure Regulator Valve Bores)High mileage units

🔎 Recommended at install: Sleeve or replace worn valve body components to restore stable line pressure.

Researched from factory recalls, TSBs and OEM service data (reference unit 400-62173-4583780). Unit-specific details — mileage, condition, warranty, freight — are covered in the checkout interview.

Policies, in plain English.

Shipping & Handling

  • Ships by LTL freight on a pallet — a real freight truck, not a parcel van
  • Your checkout freight quote covers delivery to your door (liftgate service included for residential addresses)
  • The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery window — someone must be present to receive it
  • Typically palletized and picked up within 2–3 business days; transit time depends on distance

120-Day Warranty

This part includes a 120-day warranty.

  • If the part fails within the warranty window, we'll replace it or refund per the coverage terms
  • Coverage is parts-only — installation labor is not included
  • Warranty covers defects — not installation errors, misuse, or damage after installation

Your pre-purchase interview reviews these exact terms with you before anything is charged.

Returns (30 Days)

We accept returns of uninstalled parts within 30 days of delivery for this part.

  • Defective parts: We will replace the part or issue a refund at our discretion
  • Programming: "Needs to be programmed to my vehicle" is not a valid return reason. Many modules require dealer programming — we're happy to help connect you with resources if your dealer says it's not programmable
  • Return shipping: This part ships by freight (LTL) — the part price is refundable per the terms above, but shipping costs are non-refundable and return freight follows the seller's return terms. Your pre-purchase interview walks through the exact numbers before you buy
  • Parts must be returned in original packaging and unmodified condition
  • Poorly packaged returns that arrive damaged will not be credited

Damaged in Shipping?

Freight damage is rare — and you're fully protected when you do two things at delivery:

  • Inspect before you sign — you're allowed time to look the pallet over while the driver waits
  • Write any damage on the delivery receipt before signing — that one line is what makes a freight claim succeed
  • Severe damage? Refuse the delivery — it goes back at no cost to you and we make it right
  • Photograph the pallet before unwrapping; report concealed damage within 24 hours of delivery

We handle the carrier claim — you just help document it. Your pre-purchase interview walks through this checklist too.

Order Cancellation

Cancel before shipment for a full refund. Once the pallet has been built, a preparation charge may apply — and once the freight carrier picks it up, shipping costs are non-refundable and standard return terms apply. Your pre-purchase interview shows the exact numbers before you pay.
