- Torque Converter Seating: Ensure the torque converter is fully seated (drops/clicks three times, recessed at least 1 inch) before bolting to the engine to avoid cracking the high-pressure fluid pump.
- Thermal Bypass Valve Fluid Level Check: Fluid level must be checked using a multi-step process involving heating the fluid to 194°F (90°C) to open the bypass valve, cooling it back down to 95°F-113°F (35°C-45°C), and checking via the level-set standpipe plug with the engine idling.
- Mandatory Cooler Line Flush: Debris from the old failed unit must be completely flushed out to prevent immediate contamination of the replacement unit.
