Regardless of the option chosen, you must clear the transmission adaptive tables and perform an adaptive relearn drive cycle.

- Torque Converter Seating: Ensure the torque converter is fully seated (typically three distinct clicks/drops) before bolting to the engine to avoid cracking the front pump.
- TSS/OSS Sensors: Highly recommended to replace both sensors with brand-new OEM Ford parts while the transmission is on the bench.
- PTU (Power Transfer Unit) Alignment: Inspect PTU splines, replace the PTU input shaft seal, and replace the PTU fluid (75W-140 synthetic gear oil).
- Subframe Alignment: Mark the subframe alignment or use alignment pins during removal, and perform a 4-wheel alignment after installation is complete.
- Cooler Flush: Must perform a heated, pressurized flush of the transmission cooler and lines to remove metal debris from the failed unit.
