Automatic Transmission Assembly with Torque Converter for 2013-2020 Jaguar
Product Notes Read before buying
This is an 8-speed automatic transmission for 3.0L V6 Supercharged All-Wheel Drive (AWD) models only. It will not fit Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) vehicles. For the 2018 Jaguar XE, please verify your original transmission has the ID number DW93-7000-AD to ensure compatibility.
Voice or type your vehicle details and Wrenchy will confirm fitment in seconds.

Know This Transmission Before You Buy
The research behind our purchase interview — recalls, bulletins and real install economics for this transmission family:
A quick look at your own vehicle makes sure the right transmission shows up:
- Confirm the vehicle is All-Wheel Drive (AWD) by checking for a front driveshaft and transfer case.
- Confirm the vehicle is equipped with the 3.0L Supercharged V6 engine.
- Physically inspect the transmission ID tag on the lower left-hand side of the case to match the part number.
What the install really takes — plan and budget with confidence:
Special tools this job needs:
- OBD2 scan tool capable of reading transmission fluid temperature in real-time
- Fluid transfer pump with a curved fill adapter
- Torx and E-Torx socket sets
- Engine support bar / cross-brace hanger
- Support jack for the transmission and transfer case
Budget for these consumables at install:
- ZF Lifeguard 8 fluid (or Shell L12108 / JLR spec fluid / Mopar 8&9 Speed ATF)
- New ZF-spec plastic oil pan assembly (with integrated filter, gasket, magnets, and drain plug)
- New aluminum/steel torque-to-yield oil pan bolts
- Front pump input shaft seal (torque converter seal)
- Mechatronic connector sleeve with O-rings
- Professional transmission cooler line flush agent (e.g., Kooler Kleen)
What your vehicle’s computers will need after the swap:
What’s involved: VIN-specific programming, TCM adaptive relearn, and security system (immobilizer) remarriage
The internal TCM is coded to the vehicle's VIN and security system. Installing as-is triggers a VIN mismatch and locks the unit in limp-home mode. To resolve, either swap the original Mechatronic valve body assembly into the replacement unit, or use JLR SDD/Pathfinder software to reprogram the replacement TCM. An adaptive relearn (Quick Learn) must also be performed.
Pro tips for a smooth first start-up — hand them to whoever does the install:
- Torque Converter Seating: Must rotate and push the converter until it fully engages all three splined stages (three distinct clicks/drops). Failing to do so will crack the internal oil pump gear upon bolting to the engine, destroying the unit.
- Fluid Leveling Temperature: No dipstick. Fluid level must be checked and filled through the side fill plug while the engine is running and fluid temperature is strictly between 30°C and 50°C (86°F to 122°F) with the vehicle perfectly level.
- AWD Alignment & Transfer Case: Splines on the transmission output shaft and transfer case input shaft must be clean, rust-free, and lightly lubricated with high-temperature spline grease to prevent vibration or spline damage.
- Exhaust Clearance: Exhaust pipes run extremely close to the fill plug. Perform the check on a cool vehicle or wear heavy-duty heat-resistant gloves to avoid burns.
- Mechatronics Alignment: If the valve body is removed, special guide pins are required to prevent damage to the internal position sensor.
Easy to get right once you know them:
- Ordering for a RWD Vehicle: AWD and RWD units have completely different tailhousings and output shafts and are not interchangeable.
- Reusing the Old Fluid / Pan: Reusing old fluid or the old integrated pan/filter voids the warranty and introduces contaminants.
- Reusing Pan Bolts: The pan bolts are aluminum/steel torque-to-yield fasteners designed for one-time use. Reusing them leads to snapping or fluid leaks.
- Skipping the Cooler Flush: Debris from the previous failed transmission will wash back into the replacement unit, clogging solenoids and destroying it.
- Ignoring Programming: Assuming the transmission is plug-and-play without programming the TCM to the vehicle's VIN, resulting in a no-start or limp mode.
Not issues with the units on this page — the manufacturer documented these for every transmission of this family, wherever you buy one. Handy for your installer:
🔎 Recommended at install: Update the TCM software to the latest factory calibration using JLR diagnostic software
🔎 Recommended at install: Replace the entire plastic oil pan assembly (which has an integrated filter) and gasket
🔎 Recommended at install: Replace the plastic electrical connector sleeve and its rubber O-rings during installation
🔎 Recommended at install: Perform a fresh fill of ZF Lifeguard 8 fluid; severe cases require torque converter replacement
🔎 Recommended at install: Fluid replacement, software calibration, or replacing failing solenoids within the valve body
Researched from factory recalls, TSBs and OEM service data (reference unit 400-62556-2258481). Unit-specific details — mileage, condition, warranty, freight — are covered in the checkout interview.
Policies, in plain English.
Shipping & Handling
- Ships by LTL freight on a pallet — a real freight truck, not a parcel van
- Your checkout freight quote covers delivery to your door (liftgate service included for residential addresses)
- The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery window — someone must be present to receive it
- Typically palletized and picked up within 2–3 business days; transit time depends on distance
120-Day Warranty
This part includes a 120-day warranty.
- If the part fails within the warranty window, we'll replace it or refund per the coverage terms
- Coverage is parts-only — installation labor is not included
- Warranty covers defects — not installation errors, misuse, or damage after installation
Your pre-purchase interview reviews these exact terms with you before anything is charged.
Returns (30 Days)
We accept returns of uninstalled parts within 30 days of delivery for this part.
- Defective parts: We will replace the part or issue a refund at our discretion
- Programming: "Needs to be programmed to my vehicle" is not a valid return reason. Many modules require dealer programming — we're happy to help connect you with resources if your dealer says it's not programmable
- Return shipping: This part ships by freight (LTL) — the part price is refundable per the terms above, but shipping costs are non-refundable and return freight follows the seller's return terms. Your pre-purchase interview walks through the exact numbers before you buy
- Parts must be returned in original packaging and unmodified condition
- Poorly packaged returns that arrive damaged will not be credited
Damaged in Shipping?
Freight damage is rare — and you're fully protected when you do two things at delivery:
- Inspect before you sign — you're allowed time to look the pallet over while the driver waits
- Write any damage on the delivery receipt before signing — that one line is what makes a freight claim succeed
- Severe damage? Refuse the delivery — it goes back at no cost to you and we make it right
- Photograph the pallet before unwrapping; report concealed damage within 24 hours of delivery
We handle the carrier claim — you just help document it. Your pre-purchase interview walks through this checklist too.
Order Cancellation
Cancel before shipment for a full refund. Once the pallet has been built, a preparation charge may apply — and once the freight carrier picks it up, shipping costs are non-refundable and standard return terms apply. Your pre-purchase interview shows the exact numbers before you pay.
