Odometer 58,700 miles 🛡 120-day warranty included
⚠ turbo NOT included
This is a used part. For vehicles with the 3.6L V6 engine (SIDI, DOHC) and automatic transmission. This is the twin turbo version (option code LF3). You may need to change induction, exhaust, and electrical systems as necessary.

This is the 3.6L TWIN-TURBO engine, also known as the V-Sport model. It fits vehicles with the 8th digit of the VIN as '8'. It will NOT fit the more common, non-turbo 3.6L engine.

Know This Engine Before You Buy

The research behind our purchase interview — recalls, bulletins and real install economics for this engine family:

A quick look at your own vehicle makes sure the right engine shows up:

  • Check your VIN's 8th Digit: Must be an 8. If it is a 3, your vehicle has the naturally-aspirated 3.6L LFX engine.
  • Confirm Your Drivetrain: Verify that your Cadillac XTS is All-Wheel Drive (AWD).
  • Verify Engine Orientation: Confirm that your engine is mounted transversely (sideways).
  • Prepare for turbo transfer: Verify that your current turbochargers are in good working order.
🔎 Where to look: The engine broadcast code (EUN) is stamped on the left (starter) side of the block or printed on a label on the back of the Bank 1 (right side) cylinder head.

What the install really takes — plan and budget with confidence:

11 to 15 hoursshop labor$1,650 to $2,800+typical shop bill, on top of the partExpertDIY difficulty

Special tools this job needs:

  • EN-46105 / EN-51333 / EN-48383 Camshaft locking and timing chain retainer tool set
  • EN-51332 High-pressure fuel line quick-disconnect release tool
  • EN-51365 High-pressure fuel pump installation guide tool
  • EN-49245 GM Teflon Seal Sizer
  • Vacuum Coolant Refiller
  • GM-Compatible Scan Tool (GDS2 / Techline Connect)
🔌 Wiring harness: The external vehicle wiring harness is not included and must be transferred. Wiring harness differs completely between transverse (XTS) and longitudinal (CTS) platforms.

Budget for these consumables at install:

  • GM Dexos1 Gen 2 or Gen 3 approved full-synthetic 5W-30 motor oil (7.0 quarts / 6.6 liters capacity) and new filter
  • GM Dex-Cool coolant (50/50 pre-diluted or mixed with distilled water)
  • Six new OE-spec iridium spark plugs
  • Upper and lower intake manifold gaskets
  • Exhaust manifold gaskets
  • Thermostat housing gasket
  • Turbocharger oil feed and drain line gaskets/O-rings
  • Turbocharger oil feed lines / screens
  • New Teflon fuel injector seals (if transferring injectors)
  • Timing chain kit (highly recommended: chains, tensioners, and guides)
  • One-time-use TTY fasteners (harmonic balancer bolt, flywheel/flexplate bolts, cylinder head bolts)

What your vehicle’s computers will need after the swap:

⚠️ Model-dependentprogramming / calibration⚠️ Yesdealer tool needed⚠️ YesECU/PCM re-marriage

What’s involved: Security/Immobilizer Relearn (Passlock) and Crankshaft Position (CKP) System Variation Learn

If reusing your vehicle's original Engine Control Module (ECM), no security re-marriage or VIN programming is required, but you must perform a Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Variation Relearn. If replacing the ECM itself, a full security/immobilizer re-marriage and VIN-specific dealer programming are required.

Pro tips for a smooth first start-up — hand them to whoever does the install:

  • Transverse Block Casting Constraints: Ensure the replacement block is cast for a transverse layout; longitudinal blocks from CTS Vsport will not fit.
  • Integrated Intercooler Air Pockets: Must use a vacuum coolant filler to bleed the independent intercooler cooling loop to prevent high intake air temperatures and severe power loss.
  • Fragile Turbo Plumbing: Do not bend, twist, or crimp metal oil and coolant feed lines during transfer. Clogged or restricted lines will starve and destroy the turbochargers.
  • Oil Cooler Replacement: If the original engine suffered a catastrophic internal failure (like a spun bearing), you must replace the oil cooler and lines to prevent metal shavings from contaminating the new engine.
  • Torque-to-Yield (TTY) Fasteners: Must replace TTY bolts with brand-new ones and follow exact GM multi-step angle-torque specifications.

Easy to get right once you know them:

  • Ordering for a CTS Vsport: Purchasing an XTS LF3 engine for a CTS Vsport. The blocks, oil pans, accessory brackets, and wiring harnesses are completely different.
  • Reusing Clogged Turbo Oil Lines: Reusing old oil feed lines which are often clogged with baked-on carbon, immediately starving and destroying the transferred turbochargers.
  • Failing to Perform the CKP Relearn: Skipping the Crankshaft Position variation learn, causing false misfire codes (P0300) and a flashing check engine light.
  • Improper Intercooler Bleeding: Attempting to bleed the intercooler cooling circuit without a vacuum tool, leaving air trapped in the intake manifold.
  • Using Non-Dexos Approved Oil: Using cheap, conventional, or non-Dexos certified motor oil, leading to rapid carbon buildup and premature timing chain wear.
  • Reusing a contaminated oil cooler after a bearing failure, which flushes metal shavings directly into the replacement engine.

Not issues with the units on this page — the manufacturer documented these for every engine of this family, wherever you buy one. Handy for your installer:

Researched from factory recalls, TSBs and OEM service data (reference unit 300-05837-2440866). Unit-specific details — mileage, condition, warranty, freight — are covered in the checkout interview.

Policies, in plain English.

Shipping & Handling

  • Ships by LTL freight on a pallet — a real freight truck, not a parcel van
  • Your checkout freight quote covers delivery to your door (liftgate service included for residential addresses)
  • The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery window — someone must be present to receive it
  • Typically palletized and picked up within 2–3 business days; transit time depends on distance

120-Day Warranty

This part includes a 120-day warranty.

  • If the part fails within the warranty window, we'll replace it or refund per the coverage terms
  • Coverage is parts-only — installation labor is not included
  • Warranty covers defects — not installation errors, misuse, or damage after installation

Your pre-purchase interview reviews these exact terms with you before anything is charged.

Returns (30 Days)

We accept returns of uninstalled parts within 30 days of delivery for this part.

  • Defective parts: We will replace the part or issue a refund at our discretion
  • Programming: "Needs to be programmed to my vehicle" is not a valid return reason. Many modules require dealer programming — we're happy to help connect you with resources if your dealer says it's not programmable
  • Return shipping: This part ships by freight (LTL) — the part price is refundable per the terms above, but shipping costs are non-refundable and return freight follows the seller's return terms. Your pre-purchase interview walks through the exact numbers before you buy
  • Parts must be returned in original packaging and unmodified condition
  • Poorly packaged returns that arrive damaged will not be credited

Damaged in Shipping?

Freight damage is rare — and you're fully protected when you do two things at delivery:

  • Inspect before you sign — you're allowed time to look the pallet over while the driver waits
  • Write any damage on the delivery receipt before signing — that one line is what makes a freight claim succeed
  • Severe damage? Refuse the delivery — it goes back at no cost to you and we make it right
  • Photograph the pallet before unwrapping; report concealed damage within 24 hours of delivery

We handle the carrier claim — you just help document it. Your pre-purchase interview walks through this checklist too.

Order Cancellation

Cancel before shipment for a full refund. Once the pallet has been built, a preparation charge may apply — and once the freight carrier picks it up, shipping costs are non-refundable and standard return terms apply. Your pre-purchase interview shows the exact numbers before you pay.
