1. Inspect All Mounting Tabs: This is the most important check. Carefully flip the grille over and examine every single mounting tab and clip point. They should be whole, without any stress marks (white lines in the plastic) or cracks. A part with even one or two broken tabs may be impossible to install securely.
2. Check the Chrome Finish: On an upper grille, look closely at the chrome surround. Run your finger along the edges and look for any signs of bubbling, peeling, or deep scratches that go through to the underlying plastic. Minor pitting from normal use is acceptable, but peeling is a sign of imminent failure.
3. Flex the Part Gently: Hold the grille at both ends and apply very light twisting pressure. This can reveal hairline cracks in the main body of the grille that are otherwise invisible. Pay close attention to corners and areas around screw holes.

Installation Guide: Bumper Removal Required

Replacing any of the front grille sections on a Saturn Sky requires removing the entire front bumper cover. The grilles are attached from the back with tabs and sometimes screws, making them inaccessible from the front of the car.

Basic Replacement Steps:
